Human Milk Microbiome Metagenome

Maternal diet during lactation is known to influence both the metabolic disease outcomes and the gut microbiota composition of nursing infants. We hypothesize that this effect is in part due to the maternal diet structuring the human milk microbiome. In this project, rigorously controlled human dietary intervention studies were used to determine the impact of maternal diet on the human milk microbiome using WGS sequencing in association with human milk oligosaccharides.
