Data and code for "The observed September 2023 temperature jump was near impossible under standard anthropogenic forcing", submitted to Communications Earth & Environment

This repository contains the data and a Jupyter notebook required to reproduce the main figures included in the manuscript “The observed September 2023 temperature jump was near impossible under standard anthropogenic forcing”, submitted to Communications Earth & Environment. All plots are generated in the Jupyter notebook final_plots.ipynb and saved in the plots/ folder. The underlying data are stored in the files/ directory. The code used for the probabilistic attribution analysis is based on the dist_cov package developed by Mathias Hauser (https://github.com/mathause/dist_cov) and has been only minimally modified for this study. Additional code to obtain the intermediate data files in this repository is available from the corresponding author upon request.
