Analysis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) depleted for the transcription factor ATOH8. Overall design: ATOH8 was identified as a direct target gene of BMP-9/ALK-1/SMAD signaling in endothelial cells (ECs). In order to assess the function of transcription factor ATOH8 in ECs, HUVECs transfected with either siRNAs specific for ATOH8 or control siRNA were stimulated with 1 ng/ml BMP-9 for 24 h or left untreated.
