Metagenomic sequencing data from 50 wild bird fecal samples collected from multiple provinces in China. A total of 50 cloacal fecal samples were obtained from four wild bird species across four provinces in China using sterile cotton swabs during fieldwork. Immediately after collection, the samples were stored at -20C in portable freezers, transported to the laboratory, and then kept at -80C until further processing. This project aimed to investigate microbial diversity in wild bird fecal samples from multiple provinces in China. The same dataset was also analyzed for virome characterization to reveal viral diversity in wild bird gut ecosystems.
