Escherichia coli KI683 was isolated from blood of a patient who developed septicemia from a urinary tract infection. Considering that biomaterial-associated E. coli infections and those from sepsis and urinary tract infections are highly similar, strain KI683 is an ideal candidate to reveal adhesion mechanisms onto abiotic surfaces by genome comparison. The gDNA was extracted and was further processed with the PacBio Sequel pipeline.
