Sovereignty in the age of blockchain: a complex relationship

The emergence of blockchain technology has challenged conventional systems of governance and raised questions about the relationship between government and civil society, and their national interests. Some possible cases that rely on blockchain can be found in the area of international trade. However, given the potential benefits of blockchain in terms of transparency, security, and automation, it is likely that this technology will be further included in both public and private sectors.
