BackgroundThe Perinatal Data Center division of March of Dimes collects and analyzes perinatal maternal and infant health data for the use of public health professionals, researchers, policy makers, and the media. This website provides perinatal data both within and across states, cities and counties. Topics include: infant mortality, preterm birth, prenatal care, and nutritional and behavioral risk factors. User FunctionalityUsers can generate graphs, maps and st ate summaries by birth indicators. Users can download graphs and maps as Microsoft Powerpoint slides and state summaries as PDF files. Demographic information is available by race/ethnicity and maternal age. To assist professionals addressing perinatal issues, the Perinatal Data Center staff also offers assistance with epidemiologic analyses. Data Notes Data are derived from government agencies and organizations including: March of Dimes survey data, National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion; National Center for HIV, STD and TB Prevention; Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA); Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA); U.S. Census Bureau; National Governors Association ( NGA); United States Department of Agriculture (NGA) and the National Newborn Screening and Genetics Resource Center (NNSGRC). Years for which the data apply are indicated with the map or graph. Most recent data are from 2010. Data are updated throughout the year. Depending on the statistic, data are available on national, state, county, and city levels.
