Stable isotope data for fish and basal resources in Usumacinta floodplain lakes (Pantanos de Centla), Mexico

This dataset contains stable isotope ratios (d13C and d15N) for fish and a suite of potential basal resources collected across three floodplain lakes permanently connected to the Usumacinta River, Mexico. Data were collected during two seasonal periods: the dry and rainy seasons. The dataset includes taxonomic identification for fish and isotopic signatures for primary producers (including epiphytes, phytoplankton, aquatic macrophytes, and terrestrial organic matter) used to analyze energy pathways and the specific contribution of attached algae to secondary production. This data supports the findings published in 'Epiphytes support aquatic consumers of a large floodplain lake ecosystem in the southern Gulf of Mexico' (Aquatic Sciences, 2023).
