Data, code, and supplementary material from: Trophic strategies of picoeukaryotic phytoplankton vary over time and with depth in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre

Three data files, an R script for analyzing them, and supplementary materials are included, associated with the paper "Trophic strategies of picoeukaryotic phytoplankton vary over time and with depth in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre" (Edwards et al., 2024). The file Rii_etal_2022_OTU_table.csv contains a table of operational taxonomic units of picoeukaryotes, sampled over 28 at months at Station ALOHA, as described in Rii et al. (2022). The file HOT_metadata.csv contains metadata associated with the OTU samples, as collected by the Hawaiʻi Ocean Time-series program (https://hahana.soest.hawaii.edu/hot/hot-dogs/interface.html). The file WHOTS_mixed_layer_depths.csv contains mixed layer depths estimated from data collected by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Hawaiʻi Ocean Timeseries Site (https://www.soest.hawaii.edu/whots/). The file ALOHA_picoeuk_trophic_strategies_for_publication_033124.R contains a script that merges these data sources with information on phytoplankton grazing abilities from Li et al. (2022), and uses generalized linear mixed models to test for trait-niche relationships, as described in the associated manuscript. Finally, the file aloha_strategies_supplement_clean_072924.pdf contains a supplementary table and figures associated with the published paper (Edwards et al., 2024).
