This dataset represents the integrated output of the Italian National Wave and Current Monitoring Network. It serves as the primary source for sea-state monitoring across the Mediterranean basin, providing high-resolution physical parameters for coastal protection, navigation safety, and climate change analysis. Near Real-Time (NRT) Raw Data are transmitted via satellite/UMTS links at 30-minute intervals. These records are intended for immediate operational use and have undergone automated quality control (QC) procedures only.
Data are collected via a network of directional buoys and acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP), strategically moored along the Italian coastline to capture diverse bathymetric and fetch conditions. Parameters include Significant wave height, peak/mean periods, wave direction, sea surface temperature, and water current velocity vectors at multiple depths.
