First occurrence of Sugarcane Streak Mosaic Virus (SCSMV) infecting Sugarcane in Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa. First report of Sugarcane Streak Mosaic Virus (SCSMV) in Côte d'Ivoire

Virus-like symptoms such as streak mosaic were found on plants at different sugarcane plantations in Central-west regions, Côte d’Ivoire. The virus was transmitted mechanically and was sett-borne. The nucleotide sequences of the coat protein gene had the highest identity with that of Sugarcane streak mosaic virus (SCSMV) isolates. We tentatively designate these isolates as SCSMV-CI (Côte d’Ivoire).
