The strain BT407 is of interest as reference and a research strain for insectocidal Bacillus thuringiensis. The strain provides the chromosomal background of an insectocidal strain without the cry- toxin encoding plasmids. Due to the fact that the strain is gentically accessiblle it can be used as a host for a variety of cry- toxin encoding plasmids.
