China's Wind Erosion Prevention Service Dataset (1983-2018)

Description: This dataset provides annual estimates of wind erosion prevention (also known as sand fixation) service across China from 1983 to 2018. Wind erosion prevention is a critical ecosystem service for stabilizing soil, reducing dust emissions, and mitigating desertification. The data were produced using the Revised Wind Erosion Equation (RWEQ) model, integrating long-term meteorological data (wind speed, precipitation, temperature, humidity), soil property data, remote sensing-derived NDVI, and land use/cover maps. The final output quantifies the potential amount of soil retained per pixel per year due to vegetation and surface cover (unit: t/ha/yr). The dataset is intended for researchers and policymakers working on land degradation assessment, ecosystem service mapping, dryland sustainability, and the evaluation of ecological engineering projects (e.g., the Three-North Shelterbelt Program).
