This database compiles information pertaining to 32 distinct contaminated sites that have required remediation operations. Its purpose is to document site characteristics, initial contamination levels, spatial delineation of impacts, and post-remediation compliance status. The database is structured into two geospatial layers (shapefiles), designed for easy visualization and analysis within a Geographic Information System (GIS): 'Characterization Sampling Points' Layer: This layer represents the geographical location of each soil sampling point. Its attributes include contaminant concentrations (measured values for each sample), average depth (depth at which the sample was collected), compound(s) (identification of detected pollutants, e.g., total petroleum hydrocarbons, specific PFAS), remediation threshold (regulatory or contractual limit value to be achieved for each pollutant), and dominant lithology (main geological description of the soil at the sampling point). 'Excavation and Compliance Zones' Layer: This layer delineates the spatial extents of the actual excavation areas. Its attributes encompass post-remediation compliance (indicating the achievement of remediation objectives at the limits and within the excavation), and excavated area (surface area of the dug-out zone in m²). Both shapefiles can be easily interlinked and sorted by the 'site' field, facilitating individual site data analysis. This data structure supports the comparative evaluation of investigation strategies and remediation outcomes across the entire site portfolio. The coordinates of the sites are all given in relative coordinates in order to preserve the anonymity of the sites.
