Effects of plant growth regulators on Bacterial Communities in planthoppers

In this study, we investigated the changes in the dominant bacterial flora in planthoppers under the stress of three plant growth regulators as an entry point. The results revealed a significant increase in the abundance of Acetobacteraceae Unclassified, the dominant bacterium of white-backed planthopper (WBPH, Sogatella furcifera), in three planthoppers species. Combined transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses revealed that the function of the bacterium may be linked to the nutritional and metabolic functions of planthoppers. We further analyzed 94 publications (containing 242 sets of experimental data) related to the symbiotic bacteria and functions of planthoppers and other insects, it was found that Wolbachia was the most functionally abundant bacterium in planthoppers; Immune function-related proteins are most widely distributed in the symbiotic bacterial functional protein network; 70% of the environmentally responsive dominant bacteria have become the most dominant bacteria after environmental changes, etc..
