Temporal host–symbiont dynamics in community contexts: Impact of host fitness and vertical transmission efficiency on symbiosis prevalence

Symbiotic associations are pivotal in plant ecology and evolution, with outcomes depending on partners' traits and environmental context. Here, we compiled a dataset regarding a three-year study focusing on an annual plant species that forms symbiosis with a vertically transmitted fungal endophyte. The study was conducted in stands situated in two different vegetation communities: HMM, characterized by productivity and low-stress conditions, and HP, exhibiting less productivity and high-stress conditions.
