ImbalanSense: Smart Insole Data for Gait Imbalance Detection

The ImbalanSense dataset contains plantar pressure recordings collected using OpenGo Moticon smart insoles during participants walked under several experimental conditions. Participants completed trials under normal walking, wearing VR (virtual reality) headset with static environment, and VR with induced imbalance conditions represented as simulated earthquake, with shaking applied at light, medium, and heavy intensity levels. The dataset includes minimally processed sensor recordings and recording-level metadata, and can support research on gait patterns, balance disturbances, and wearable-sensor-based classification. The study was approved by the Aalto University Research Ethics Committee under Ethical Review ETHICS-000568, and all participants provided informed consent.
