资源简介:
Column and feature samples from the Lower Powder Spring Site (48SW7933), Wyoming, were examined for pollen and macrofloral remains. This site is a multicomponent site situated in the southern portion of the Washakie Basin with radiocarbon dates ranging from 5600 to 930 BP, suggesting use at various times from the Early Archaic to the Late Prehistoric. The excavated areas, A and B, are located arout 100 meters apart, on a ridge and in the drainage. Each area contained evidence of two components. A stratigraphic pollen column was sampled from each block area to provide paleoenvironmental information before, during, and after occupation. Samples were also analyzed from features and adjacent occupation floors to provide subsistence and possible activity area information. In addition, a modern soil sample was examined to provide a control for the archaeological pollen samples.
