Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is one of the most common types of skin cancer. SCC has known associations with age, ultraviolet (UV) exposure, and immune status. However, the association between the skin microbiome and SCC risk remains less understood. Here, we used metagenomic sequencing to profile the skin microbiomes of 30 individuals with a range of SCC risk factors.
