资源简介:
A study of sediment cores recovered in the Subantarctic and Antarctic sectors
of the Atlantic Ocean was carried out in order to develop to main aspects for
the late Pleistocene and Holocene: 1) a high-resolution stratigraphy pattern;
2) paleoceanographic evolution.
A high resolution stratigraphy pattern was developed combining bio-events
(Calcareous nannofossils, diatoms, radiolarians and planktonic foraminifers)
with other techniques such as biogeochemistry (stable isotopes), paleomagnetism
and sedimentology. Special attention was paid to the biostratigraphy
(ecostratigraphy); depending of the region (related with the ecological
characteristics) individual groups or a combination of microfossils were used.
At the same time, the quantitative analyses of the above mentioned groups plus
the additional biogeochemical techniques permitted the reconstruction of
different surface water masses, and its evolution along the last climatic
cycles or in selected time-slices like in the deglaciation intervals.
