Headrest

Headrest New Kingdom Wood Possibly from Illahun Harvard Semitic Museum 1902.17.7 The inscription on column of headrest, starts with "the good god" then a break over what was a cartouche, and ends with "given life." The cartouche has enough space and traces of inscription to accommodate three or four signs. The last sign appears to be a neb basket, with a seated deity over it (Amenhotep III? Ramses IV?). There is also a (secondarily carved?) sa sign carved on one side of the base, the word for "son" or the god Geb. wear pattern on the cartouche suggests it was grabbed frequently around the post of the headrest, the object may have been used in life and then deposited in a burial.
