This series is comprised of thirty-five minute books from the Albury City Council covering the period from 1859 to 1970.The minutes from July 1859 through to December 1916 are handwritten, while those from January 1917 through to 1970 have been typed. Each minute has been signed and dated at the bottom by the Mayor, who chaired the meetings. Minutes begin with a variation of the following: 'Minutes of the regular meeting of the Council of the City of Albury, held in the Council Chambers, Dean Street, Albury.'Information contained within the Minutes includes: council members present; apologies of those absent; correspondence in and out; minutes of previous meetings; applications for new works, inlcuding roads, buildings, sewerage, water, etc. Also notice of new sporting clubs. There are also reports from the various departments within Council, including: Town Clerk, Finance Committee, Water and Sewerage Engineer, Committee of the Whole; By-Law Committee, Engineer of Pumping Station, Inspector of Sale Yards, Public Works Committee, Curtor of Botanic Gardens, Common Herdsman, City Health and Building Surveyor, Abattoir Superintendents, and Park Supervisor.
