WGS in Spore trap tapes from 4 UK wheat field sites

We aimed to investigate the incidence of major cereal fungal pathogen spores in the field using metagenomic based approach for cereal fungal pathogen spore identification. Spore traps were set up in four geographically distinct UK wheat fields (Carnoustie, Angus; Bishop Burton, Yorkshire; Swindon, Wiltshire; and Lenham, Kent). The spore traps were set up in each of the four wheat fields, and air samples were collected consecutively for 7 days, every two weeks, from the start date of 4th May 2018 until the 17th of August 2018. Two half tapes from the two weeks of collection for each month were pooled to generate a monthly sample, performed for every month (June to August) for all four sites, obtaining a total of 12 DNA samples. A metagenomic library was constructed, using Illumina sequencing technology with 2 x 150 bp reads with a minimum of 5 million reads per sample.
