EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL/DETRITAL CHARCOAL AND AMS RADIOCARBON AGE DETERMINATION OF MATERIAL FROM ALONG CROW CREEK ON THE FLATHEAD RESERVATION, MONTANA

A total of eight detrital charcoal samples from along Crow Creek downstream of Crow Dam and reservoir on the Flathead Reservation in northwestern Montana were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon age determination. These samples were recovered from two different aged late Holocene terraces at three different sites along the creek. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated. Two samples were submitted for AMS radiocarbon age determination.
