Plant growth and development are controlled by different hormones and their action is mediated through several transcription factors belonging to different families. SlERF.B1, an AP2/ERF domain transcription factor, was identified as ripening up-regulated activator from tomato Solanum lycopersicum. Manipulation of SlERF.B1 through over-expresssion and suppression affected several aspects of plant growth in tomato. But the molecular mechanism behind the phenotypic changes has to be deciphered.
