Risk adjustment models for lung cancer in Victoria

Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death in Australia. This research examined how lung cancer is treated and managed across Victoria and how differences in care affect patient survival and outcomes. Using data from the Victorian Lung Cancer Registry, the research explored whether patients received guideline-recommended treatment, received timely treatment, and which patient, clinical and hospital factors influenced outcomes. This research found that patients who received recommended treatment lived longer, but access to this care varied by age, health status, and residence. These findings highlight opportunities to improve equity and quality of lung cancer care.
