Wind speed, M'Bour, Senegal

Wind speed was measured at 0.1 Hz using a Gill 2D-type Windsonic anemometer (Campbell® Scientific Instruments). The anemometer was located on the roof of a building (i.e. at about 10 m above the ground level) of the geophysical station of the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) installed in a nature reserve of 50 ha, and 80 m from the seaside. The average and maximum wind speed in meter per second (m s-1) were recorded at a 5 min time-step using a CR200 datalogger (Campbell® Scientific Instruments). Average wind speed is distributed at a 1 hour time-step in UTC. The value reported for 01:00UTC represents the average over the past hour and so on (the number of values used to compute the average is given for each time step).
