To test the hypothesis that mtDNA haplotype influences structure, bioenergetic response, and gene expression in isolated cardiomyocytes subjected to cyclical stretch or ACF. Overall design: We then performed gene expression profiling analysis using data obtained from RNA-seq of cardiomycytes isolated from mitochondria-nuclear exchange (MNX) mice in which the mitochondria (mt) and nuclear (n) genomes from wild-type C57BL/6J (C57n:C57mt) and C3H/HeN (C3Hn:C3Hmt) mice have been reciprocally exchanged to generate respective MNX mice (C57n:C3Hmt or C3Hn:C57mt) under two conditions: sham and ACF.
