资源简介:
This data set contains static maps, GIS maps, and geographic location files of marine debris located in the coastal waters of the Northern Gulf of Mexico. The data files represent item location, dimensions, depth, and type as identified by sidescan sonar. The Gulf of Mexico Marine Debris Project (GOMMDP) was launched in 2006 in response to the coastal impacts of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The project surveyed more than 1,500 square nautical miles of nearshore waters along the coast of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana for potential marine debris objects. Over the course of the project, more than 7,100 individual items were identified and mapped. In close cooperation with Federal, local, and state partners, the project team worked to disseminate these debris locations and other information through the files in this accession.
