Data and Code for: Collective Efficacy, Emigration Intention, and Political Participation Intention among University Students after Nepal's 2025 Youth Movement: A Survey Experiment

This record contains the de-identified data, analysis code, and reproduced tables and figures for the article "Collective Efficacy, Emigration Intention, and Political Participation Intention among University Students after Nepal's 2025 Youth Movement: A Survey Experiment" (Songwanjing Zhang, School of International Relations and Diplomacy, Beijing Foreign Studies University). Study overview: A single-factor, two-level between-subjects survey experiment (reform-progress vs. reform-stagnation news frame) was embedded in an online cross-sectional survey (Qualtrics) of students enrolled in English-medium programs at three universities in Nepal. Data were collected from March to June 2026. The valid analytic sample comprises 930 participants (474 in the progress group, 456 in the stagnation group). Measures include perceived reform progress (manipulation check), collective efficacy, hope for the nation's future, normative political participation intention, emigration intention, behavioral preparation for emigration, perceived social mobility, subjective socioeconomic status, family migration network, social desirability, and demographic variables. Data protection: The survey was anonymous; no names or IP addresses were recorded, and mobile numbers collected for compensation are not included. Records from individuals under 18 were excluded from the analysis and shared data. Ethics: The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Beijing Foreign Studies University (approval no. BFSU-IRB-2026-07; January 8, 2026).
