Fisheries Data for the ICES Area

Annual assessments are carried out for stocks of many species in the
ICES area. These are brought together and reviewed by the Advisory
Committee on Fisheries Management. Their report, published annually
in the ICES Co-operative Research Report series, provides information
on landings, recruitment, spawning biomass, fishing mortality etc. and
also identifies the information sources, which are usually the reports
of specific Working Groups.

The information is derived from sampling or census (landings, number
at age in the landings, weight at age, maturity) and from the output
of various sequential population models (number at age in the
population, fishing mortality). All the information is susceptible to
revision as methods are revised, new data become available and models
are re-run. Care is needed to understand how the information was
derived and what it can be used for. The source documents should be
consulted for descriptions of methods and also for information about
stock areas, age of recruitment and other necessary details.

This webpage offers Annual Summary information file from 2000 which
provides the following information for each stock for each year:
Species, Area code, Area name, Year, Number of recruits, Age of
recruits, Year class of recruits, Spawning Biomass, Total landed
weight of the catch, Mean Fishing Mortality, Ages included in mean F.
Also available is material from 1998 assessments giving information
for each stock for each year and for each stock*year*age.
