Governance Frameworks and Tools for Low Energy Futures, 2024-2025

This EDRC project explores how assessing the co-benefits of energy demand reduction measures relates to citizens’ well-being, and how this relationship shapes social norms and economic perspectives in policy decisions aimed at lowering energy consumption while delivering meaningful public benefits. It reviews a range of co-benefits and well-being frameworks relevant to energy demand reduction. The key aims are to identify effective methods for assessing these co-benefits, examine their alignment with existing governance frameworks for well-being, and develop practical recommendations for integrating such assessments into the UK’s net-zero pathways.
