Neogene

Files contain data used in a paper "Matrix bandwidth reduction for interpolation with splines in tension", where a node numbering scheme to reduce a bandwidth is described. Each file S_nxxny.m contains a square matrix S with n = (nx+4)*(ny+4) rows and columns that was created to calculate a 2D grid with nx columns and ny rows. Matrix is a left side of a system of linear equations that arises in Smith and Wessel method [1] when a tension parameter is equal to 0. Each file p_nxxny.m contains a permutation vector p with 1 row and n columns such that S(p, p) has its elements closer to the diagonal than S.

Repository contains a program generating a node numbering for different nx, ny.
