The effect of habitat persistence on population dynamics: a genomic approach within a dynamic archipelago

Our project aims to assess the effect of habitat persistence on population dynamics of insular lineages. We sequenced multiple individuals of the genus Eutagenia (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae) from several localities within islands of the Aegean archipelago (Greece) using ddRAD sequencing. This allowed us to generate genome-wide SNP data in order to perform side-by-side comparisons of population structure, genetic diversity and demographic history between co-distributed population pairs of psammophilous (i.e., associated with ephemeral habitat) vs. geophilous (i.e., associated with persistent habitat) Eutagenia lineages.
