The direct co-conversion of CO₂ and CH₄ into oxygenates provides an atom-efficient approach for the simultaneous valorization of two major greenhouse gases. In this study, we present an integrated spectroscopic investigation of iron-containing ferrierite (Fe-FER) as a bifunctional catalyst that selectively transforms CO₂ and CH₄ into methanol and acetic acid, with methanol subsequently converted into olefins.
