One of thirty seven pulley pins, or axles, that have been recovered, this example is in excellent condition.
Like the pulley blocks recovered, there is no sign of standardisation amongst the pins although a dedicated factory at Portsmouth was starting production when the Abergavenny sank.
The pins would be used to fasten the pulleys into a housing that then allowed ropes to slid easily through the pulley grooves.
