The aim of this study was to define a reference genome sequence of ticks representing Rhipicaphalus linnaei collected from its type locality in Egypt. Tick collected from dogs were morphologically characterized and processed for genome sequencing. The exoskeletons were deposited in internationally recognized museums as permanent morphological reference. The material and genome sequence was used for redescription of a neotype.
