RAW-READS: Three annotated tiger beetle genomes (Coleoptera, Adephaga, Cicindelidae)

This dataset pairs with https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.21363288. Tiger beetles are a charismatic group with ~3000 species distributed globally. Despite their popularity among insect enthusiasts and their role as bioindicators of ecosystem health, the group currently lacks a reference genome. This dataset includes genome assemblies and annotations for three tiger beetle species that span the evolutionary relationships within the lineage. Quality control analyses (BUSCO, Quast, and Referee) show that the assemblies are reference-quality and exhibit high contiguity, completeness, and accuracy. The resulting draft genome annotations will be a valuable resource for scientific endeavors and allow for continued research on tiger beetles and their allies. The attached files include assembly and annotation files for Audouin’s night-stalking tiger beetle, Omus audouini (NES728); the montane giant tiger beetle, Amblycheila baroni (NES739); and the western, red-bellied tiger beetle, Cicindelidia sedecimpunctata (NES740). Assembly files are in fasta format following decontamination with Purge Haplotigs and BlobTools. However, NES728 has two assembly datasets for the assembly and annotation workflows: “with_Chordata” and “no_Chordata”. Annotation files are provided in GFF3 format. Annotation was done using BRAKER3 for two annotation datasets: one using Carabid protein hints (carabid or carabs) and another using OrthoDB12 protein hints (orthodb12).
