In this data, the laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) was employed to quantitatively analyze uranium (U) and thorium (Th) elements in the graphite matrix. For the Th element, both univariate and partial least squares regression (PLSR) methods were utilized for quantitative analysis, with the PLSR method significantly improving the accuracy. In the case of U, only PLSR method was applicable because of the unresolved U emission lines. These findings indicate that combining PLSR with LIBS can achieve high-precision analysis of Th and U elements in a graphite matrix, which demonstrating its potential value in nuclear fuel cycle monitoring
