Metagenomic insights for functional gene diversity from plastic contaminated sites from Ghaila dump site, Lucknow

In present study, metagenome analysis of plastic waste Ghaila dump site, and Gomti river was performed. Four different types of samples from Ghaila dump site which include leachate and sludge samples and four samples from Gomti river includes sediments and water samples were selected for the plastic associated bacterial diversity and genes specific to plastic degradation were studied. Further, from the same samples phthalate esters degrading bacteria were isolated and characterized, followed by its whole-genome analysis to explore the functional potential.
