This dataset was generated as part of a quasi-experimental study investigating the effects of Tactical Game-Based Physical Education (TGA) lessons on students’ basic psychological needs satisfaction and self-determined motivation. The study included an experimental group receiving TGA-based instruction and a control group receiving Direct Instruction Model (DIM)-based teaching over an eight-week intervention period. Data were collected using validated scales measuring: Competence, Autonomy, Relatedness, Intrinsic motivation, Extrinsic motivation, Amotivation. Pre-test and post-test measurements were obtained from both groups. The dataset includes: Raw data, Cleaned dataset used for analysis, Variable coding scheme (codebook). Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS, including descriptive statistics and mixed-design ANOVA (Group × Time), along with effect size (η²) and confidence interval calculations. Ethical approval was obtained from the relevant institutional ethics committee. Participation was voluntary, and informed consent was obtained from all participants and their guardians. All data were anonymized to ensure confidentiality. This dataset is shared to support transparency, reproducibility, and secondary analysis in physical education and sport pedagogy research.
