This Technical Memorandum provides a comprehensive summary of gray whale (n=34), sperm whale (n=25), and bowhead whale (n=21) entanglements reported in Alaska waters from 1990-2024. These three species occupy different ecological niches, rely on different habitats, and face different pressures throughout their ranges. However, they are all connected by a common thread - the risk of entanglement in marine debris, fishing gear, and other non-fishery-related materials.
