Craspedacusta sowerbyi is a freshwater jellyfish in the phylum Cnidaria. Cnidaria is a group of diploblastic metazoans inhabiting wide range of salt and freshwater ecosystems. Thanks to the evolutionary position of Cnidaria as a sister group to bilateria and their simple bodies with specialized organs, they are suitable models for studies on sensory organs origin and the role of homeobox genes in this process.
