Visual Acoustics Open Dataset: Cross-modal correspondence metrics with human perceptual validation
收藏资源简介:
Visual Acoustics is an open research platform that systematically maps objective visual properties of images to auditory parameters using physics and psychoacoustics. This dataset collects anonymous numerical metrics from image analyses contributed by users worldwide, together with optional human perceptual ratings of the resulting sonifications. The central scientific question addressed is whether universal cross-modal correspondences exist between objective visual properties and perceptual sound qualities, or if these mappings are culturally contingent. This dataset is the direct extension of previous work by the same author (Ranero García, 2026; DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.18714818), which computationally verified the golden angle in phyllotaxis.** Here, we extend the thesis that φ ≈ 1.618 functions as a mathematical optimum from spatial biology to cross-modal perception. New in this version:- Added an interactive web interface (`index.html`) that allows real‑time exploration of the sonification process. - The interface serves as a **social experiment**, inviting users to contribute perceptual ratings and experience the mappings firsthand. No images are stored or transmitted — only numerical descriptors are recorded.
