Freshwater discharge and wind data for the Pearl River Estuary (1990-2019)

This dataset includes monthly freshwater discharge and daily wind observations for the Pearl River Estuary from 1990 to 2019. The monthly Pearl River discharge was calculated as the sum of discharge measurements from three major hydrological stations (Gaoyao, Shijiao, and Boluo), as reported by the Ministry of Water Resources of China. Daily records of wind speed and direction, measured at the Waglan Island weather station (22°11'N, 114°18'E), were obtained from the Hong Kong Observatory (https://www.hko.gov.hk/sc/cis/climat.htm). Wind stress was calculated from these data.
