Three-dimensional MITgcm model of Internal solitary waves in the northern South China Sea

This repository contains all publicly available data and code required in the northern South China Sea model using the MITgcm ocean model, as well as model results, namely temperature, velocity and sea surface gradients at a specific moment (12:00 UTC 2014-Aug-12). Email: gongyk@scsio.ac.cn<br> Affiliation: State Key Laboratory of Tropical Oceanography, South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou 510301, China. ===================================================================<br> Folder "Model_Input_Files": (1) Initial stratification condition files are saved in the "input" folder, which are named as "Temp.init" and "Salt.init". Note the files are derived from the WOA18 climatology dataset (World Ocean Atlas 2018) by spatially averaging the monthly output in August, resulting in horizontally-uniform conditions.<br> (2) Tidal boundary condition files are saved in the "input" folder, which are named in the form of "OB_East_u_Amp.bin" (amplitude) and "OB_East_u_Gph.bin" (phase). Note the files are originated from the Oregon State University TOPEX/Poseidon Solution (TPXO8-atlas data) with 1/30 deg resolution (Egbert and Erofeeva, 2002).<br> (3) Bathymetry data is named as "Luzon.topo.linear.3d", which is derived from the global gridded bathymetry dataset GEBCO (https://www.gebco.net/data_and_products/gridded_bathymetry_data).<br> (4) Relevant code is saved in the folder "code" for compiling the model. ===================================================================<br> Folder "Model_Output_Files": (1) Grid information can be found in "grid.glob.nc", "hFacC.glob.nc" and "hFacS.glob.nc".<br> (2) Three-dimensional (x-y-z) matrixes of sea surface elevations, temperature, zonal and meridional velocity at 12:00 UTC 2014-Aug-12 are saved as "stateEta.0000064800.glob.nc", "stateT.0000064800.glob.nc", "stateU.0000064800.glob.nc", and "stateV.0000064800.glob.nc".<br> (3) Single station output file in the vicinity of the Dongsha Atoll (117<sup>o</sup>44.7’E, 20<sup>o</sup>44.2’N) with a sampling rate of 1 min is named as "ST_DS_Params.nc", including temperature, zonal, meridional and vertical velocity. <br>
