A landscape archaeological study of the Urmia Plain from the Neolithic to the Early Bronze Age

The Urmia Plain in northwest Iran has been archaeologically investigated since the end of the 19th century in the course of numerous surveys and excavations. So far, most of the explorations have been carried out from the ground, so that further previously undiscovered ancient sites are suspected in terrain that is difficult to access. Remote sensing was therefore carried out using satellite imagery in order to identify further possible archaeological sites. In addition, all previously published data on Neolithic to Early Bronze Age sites was compiled in order to identify and, if possible, interpret possible settlement patterns. This dataset (with maps) not only comprises the discussed time frame but also includes the data until the Islamic Period. For detailed information please refer to the attached README file.
