Fat phagocytosis by macrophages in a mouse model of osteonecrosis

The purpose of this study is to investigate the macrophage phenotypes in ON, and how phagocytosis of necrotic fat alters its phenotype. To study this question, we established an in vitro co-culture system which allows macrophages to make direct contact with necrotic fat. The RNA-seq analysis compared the unbiased transcriptional gene expression between two conditions.
