The Effect of Geographical Environment on the Metabolism of Active Components in Pinellia ternata tubers

Pinelliae Rhizoma (PR), the dried tuber of Pinellia ternata (Thunb.), has been used medicinally in China for many years. PR contains a number of active ingredients, such as alkaloids, steroids, and polysaccharides, which are important indicators of PR quality. Ecological environments significantly affect the quality and stability of herbs. However, the effect of ecological environment on active ingredients biosynthesis of P. ternata tuber is largely unknown. High-throughput technologies have been applied to identify the differential metabolites and genes between two P. ternata tubers from different origins (CX and JZ). Our data provided a molecular perspective for subsequent studies on the impact of geographical environments on the secondary metabolism of P. ternata tuber.
