Diagnostics and epidemiology of poulty respiratory diseases

This project is a Trust Fund Cooperative Agreement (TFCA) between the USDA-ARS Southeast Poultry Research laboratory (SEPRL) and Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health (BIAH) on diagnostics and epidemiology of respiratory poultry viruses in Latin/South America. The objective of the TFCA is to expand genetic databases by performing genetic characterization and to improve forensic epidemiology capabilities of respiratory virus variants circulating in South America. This project helps in identification of additional agents that co-infect poultry in the field as well as virus variants that escape vaccination efforts.

本项工程为美国农业部农业研究服务局（USDA-ARS）东南家禽研究实验室（SEPRL）与德国勃林格殷格翰动物保健公司（Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health，简称BIAH）签订的一项信托基金合作协议（Trust Fund Cooperative Agreement，简称TFCA），旨在拉丁美洲地区对呼吸系统家禽病毒的诊断学和流行病学进行研究。该协议的目标是通过进行遗传特征描述来扩充遗传数据库，并提升针对在拉丁美洲流行的呼吸道病毒变种的法医流行病学分析能力。本项研究有助于识别田间共感染的额外病原体以及逃避疫苗接种努力的病毒变种。
